Ignite Your Life (IYL) AmeriCorps Member

 Short Title: IYL Member

 Mission: To enhance educational opportunities and enrich lives through technology

Vision: To be the community’s leading technology resource for high-need populations and those that serve them

 Summary:

Ignite Your Life (IYL), is a combination of work experience & skills training for youth. The IYL AmeriCorps member will train youth in job skills and provide career-focused guidance using community venues throughout Western New York.  Under the supervision of the IYL Director, the IYL Member guides students through a framework to ignite their interest in future careers and equip them for new job opportunities. These interactions with students use varied technologies, creative tools, experiential labs and targeted curriculum learned during IYL Member professional development.  The member participates directly in program delivery to groups of youth and guidance in skill development in computers labs, maker spaces and more.  An IYL members also spends time on data collection, program preparation and technical support for the MI office and partner sites.

 Hours: vary. Weekdays 8am – 6pm depending on community site assignment and in consideration of member’s schedule.  Occasional Saturdays 9am – 2pm and Weekday Evenings 6pm - 9pm.

Program Start date: 11/01/2019 until Program End date: 10/31/2020. Rolling enrollment.

 Total Weekly Hours depend on service role described below:
Full-time (FT) Member – 1700 Service Hours during service contract period ~36-40 hours a week to be completed within one year
Half-time (HT) Member - 900 Service Hours during service contract period, to be completed within one year.
Minimum-time (MT) Member – 300 Service Hours during service contract period, to be completed in one year.

Living Stipends provided for FT & HT Members. MT Members receive a living stipend with some partner agencies.
Full-time Members are provided health care options and childcare, if qualified.
All Members receive Education Awards based on amount of time served.
